Metal detectable RJT O-rings (Ring Joint Type, also known as the standard union) are commonly used by food manufacturers, especially where pipework is frequently disassembled for cleaning. Each O-ring is made of an EPDM material containing both a ferromagnetic additive and high atomic elements, so it is detectable by metal detection systems and visible to x-ray inspection. EPDM is FDA approved for direct food contact, making these a natural fit for food manufacturing facilities.
The blue material resists hydraulic oils, steam, and acids, and handles temperatures from -40°F to 284°F. For clamped fittings, pair them with our detectable tri-clamp gaskets, or use the DIN D-rings where milk coupling joints are in play.
