3M E-A-R Soft Metal Detectable Earplugs are designed specifically for use in food manufacturing facilities. A stainless steel ball in each earplug allows them to be detected by foreign contaminant prevention systems, and the bright yellow color makes visual detection easy in case a plug becomes detached from the wearer. The cord is there to keep that from happening in the first place.
